Traveling to Fez : The Fez Medina

Under the auspices of Unesco in 1981, the medina of Fez is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Founded in the ninth century by the dynasty Idrisside, Fez reached its most prosperous period during the reign of Mérinides the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries when it became capital of the kingdom at the expense of Marrakech. The most important buildings, mosques, palaces and fondouks come from that time. On the square is the Ennajarines fondouk houses the Museum of Arts and Crafts wood.
